St. John's

Angel House Heritage Inn

Angel House Heritage Inn was built in 1879 for the Angel family, owners of one of the first iron foundries in St. John's. A provincially registered property, the inn is set back from the road on an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds. These include a formal garden, extensive lawns, herb and vegetable gardens, stone retaining walls, mature trees and flowering shrubs. Four ensuite guest rooms have the amenities of a five star hotel, yet offer the privacy and comfort of a country home within the heart of St. John's. Amenities include: WiFi, an extensive DVD library of over 800 titles, and a bookshop on premises specializing in local, art and history titles. The original carriage house is now Angel House Antiques, devoted to late 19th and early 20th century china, clocks, historical art and silver. Angel House has two storeys plus a basement and a centre hall floor plan. On the main floor are an elegant living and dining room with back-to-back fireplaces, as well as a den and an old style kitchen. On the second floor are four guest rooms, each uniquely appointed and with a private bath. While each of the rooms overlooks the garden, the sitting room in the five-sided Scotch dormer offers a panoramic view of the Waterford Valley and Signal Hill.
