Le Lindois

Maison des Amis

Maison des Amis is a warm and friendly guest house. Originally a traditional French barn built over three hundred years ago, it has now been tastefully restored and converted. Situated in a quiet hamlet surrounded by fields and lakes, it boasts a large well kept garden with its own swimming pool. This is an ideal place for relaxing and getting away from it all. You can simply sit outside and enjoy the ambience of the superb French countryside. The immediate surrounding countryside consists of open fields and within a short walking distance there are beautiful lakes which harbour an abundance of wildlife. Situated in the west of France, the hamlet of La Gilardie is located in the commune of Le Lindois, close to the village of Russines which has a small shop, post office and an excellent bar/restaurant which is open both lunchtimes and evenings. The nearest town is Montbron. The village, which is within close proximity, also hosts a large public swimming pool for which there is no charge.  Maison des Amis has been sympathetically decorated in keeping with its original character, each room has the original beams with many of the original stone walls inside the house adding to its character. There is a large cosy living room for guests to relax in and a separate dining area for breakfast. With a choice of three bedrooms available, one double with an en-suite, a large bedroom room which can sleep up to four, and another double room; both these rooms have use of a very large bathroom with separate bath and shower. Each room is equipped with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

La Font Bétou

La Font Bétou provides 2 beautiful suites and is located in the second sunniest area of France. This is a very quiet and relaxing place... a place to soothe the soul and enrich the mind. Travellers that enjoy experiencing another culture, history, nature and meeting wonderful people will have the most wonderful time while staying at La Font Bétou. La Font Bétou is located in "La France Profonde". Loosely translated, this means "deep France", but a more accurate description is "the heartland of France". The house is in the countryside, with pleasant walks in all directions. If you feel energetic there are three bicycles you can use and you can play badminton on the grass above the pool if you wish. Tennis is available one kilometre away in Orignolles. Horse riding is also possible, just three kilometres away. Your hosts will give you a warm welcome and the door to the kitchen is always open. Experience, for yourself, the peace and quiet that La Font Bétou is. Nearby, there are many historical Medieval towns to visit with amazing architecture and fascinating Abbeys. In addition, close by there are many wonderfully beautiful beaches to take advantage of.

Prahecq

This charming and fully renovated stone farmhouse and gîte set in a calm and relaxing environment. Situated on the outskirts of the village of Prahecq in the southern Deux-Sèvres. The Poitou-Charentes region is, for those not living in France, one of the lesser known areas of France yet much frequented by the French. The region is a wonderful mix of islands, quiet villages, coastland, vineyards and wetlands. It also benefits from having the second highest number of sunny days after the Mediterranean coast. Bed and breakfast guests can choose one of three rooms which include one double, one family and one twin room. All bed and breakfast rooms are ensuite and have original features such as beams and/or stone walls. An evening meal, including wine, can be provided if requested in advance. Children are welcome but parents of young children need to know that there is a part that has an open staircase and walkway to the upper floor. The lounge is the family room and guests are welcome to sit with the innkeepers. The family room also has a tropical aquarium, a parrot as well as a pool table. Bed and breakfast guests have there own garden area and full use of the heated pool. In addition to the bed and breakfast, there is also a self catered renovated barn that guests may rent.

St. Seurin d'Uzet

Blue Sturgeon

Totally renovated with a classic but modern interiors and contemporary paintings, Blue Sturgeon is situated on the small port of Saint Seurin d'Uzet, "the village of caviar", famous in the 1920's for being the first place in Europe to produce caviar. Mr. Pierre Bergé, the co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent, is to open a caviar museum / bistro on the port and later a caviar restaurant in association with Prunier caviar of Paris. Blue Sturgeon has 4 bedrooms, all with bathrooms. We offer a bar, lounge and dining area with log burning stove and exposed beams with rare carpentry. There is a large park 9000m2 with a lake and pool backing onto sunflower fields. With as many sunshine hours as Nice and Côte d'Azur, Saint Seurin d'Uzet is situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary facing Medoc (some of the finest vineyards in the world). Blue Sturgeon is in an ideal position set in the country amongst vineyards by the sea - 10 minutes from some of the best beaches on the Atlantic. There are several bars, restaurant and night club, available within easy reach 10 minutes away. Golf, shopping, restaurants and bars in Royan or Saintes is 30 minutes away, and Cognac is 1 hour. Horse riding and tennis are in St. Seurin, cycling, boating, fishing and water sports are all available near by.
