Anchorage Mahogany Manor Historic Downtown Inn

Mahogany Manor offers an upscale, comfortable lodging experience located on a half acre wooded bluff lot at the edge of downtown. We offer the ambiance of a quiet, secluded first class lodge that is within walking distance to the city center, Anchorage Museum of History and Art and Sullivan Arena. Revered as an "architectural masterpiece", the manor house was originally built in 1947 with additions in 1952 and 1962. It is known by many as the "original mansion of Anchorage", and was designed for entertaining friends as well as dignitaries visiting Alaska during the '60s and '70's. If you enjoy walking, "Walkabout Town" bed and breakfast is for you. Located close to the spectacular Coastal Trail, a short walk offers a wide variety of Alaska's flora and fauna. Accommodations Include: one or two bedrooms with family room, cable TV, shared bath, free laundry, storage & freezer facilities and enough off street parking for an RV. Enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring many homemade Alaskan flavors on the outside deck (weather permitting) with a marvelous view of the Chugach Mountains. Walkabout Town Bed and Breakfast is located close to town in a neighborhood and park setting. The bed and breakfast is a contemporary style up and down modified duplex that has been home to the Stimsons for over twenty years. Three bedrooms offer a variety of sleeping configurations for singles, doubles and parties of three or more. Each room has a unique decor, two rooms are named after countries we have visited.

We have a wood burning stove in the main living area as well as a VCR and various videos... a common area for socializing or relaxing. Guests may use the BBQ on the deck on Fridays, weather permitting. We offer year-round accommodations. As a bonus, we have a computer for you to check your email. Alaska during the summer is a very busy place so call or email us now to reserve your stay with us. Each day we have visiting moose "that eat all my flowers all summer long" outside a 700 sq. ft. deck on the back and side of our home. We have neighbors, but you can't see them.
